OUR STORY

Greetings! My name is Keme Henderson and I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. I developed my passion for baking while attending my Alma mater, Southport High School and watching my grandmother, Millie Ann Stamps (who we affectionately called "Bigmama") whip together a few ingredients to make us, her grandkids, something sweet.

 

Soon I would sit for hours and watch my Godmother, Rosie Nell Wilson (Mama Nell), bake and cook. Very soon after, I began experimenting with recipes. My two favorite things to make were cookies and cheesecakes. My passion for these two desserts came from my favorite Sesame Street character, Cookie Monster and to this day, I love watching one of my favorite shows, The Golden Girls, discuss their problems over cheesecake. 

 

Fast forward after receiving my Masters in social work and many years of family and friends encouraging me to sell my baked goods, it would take a friend to convince me to go into business. So in May of 2011, with my family, friends and supporters alongside, I became an entrepreneur doing what I love to do, baking "Somethin' Sweet". Somethin' Sweet provides a wide assortment of gourmet cookies, cheesecakes, and cheesecake cupcakes. I have taken some of your favorite cookies, cakes, and pie flavors and put them into cookies or cheesecakes. While I remain the head confectioner and operator, my family and friends work close by assisting me with large events and deliveries.

 

After thirteen years of business, I know now more than ever, Somethin' Sweet is the sweet love of my life.
